Industrial Incentive and Subsidy Advisory

Identify the industrial incentives relevant to your project, establish what can be supported by your records, and move through an agreed application and claim process.

PvtFin supports industrial incentive assessments and claim requirements for companies across India. Each assignment is assessed against the unit's location, activity, investment dates and applicable policy. State-specific execution and professional requirements are confirmed before that work is agreed.

When this service is useful

You may be planning a new industrial unit, expanding an existing facility, introducing a product line or modernising plant and machinery. You may also have an incentive approval with a claim still to be prepared, a departmental query awaiting a response or recurring claim periods requiring attention.

The starting question is specific: which notified benefit, if any, fits this unit and its documented investment?

An expenditure estimate or policy announcement alone does not establish entitlement. We examine the applicable provisions and identify missing evidence before recommending an application.

What we can assess

Depending on the relevant Central or state policy and the accepted scope, an assessment may examine:

  • Capital investment subsidies or investment-linked assistance.
  • Interest support or eligible financing-cost reimbursements.
  • Power tariff support and electricity duty benefits.
  • Stamp duty or other specified project-cost concessions.
  • Industrial policy reimbursements linked to eligible net SGST.
  • Employment-linked, environmental or technology-related assistance.
  • Sector-specific incentives with a relevant application route.

These are categories for examination. Their availability, calculation and conditions differ. The notified policy, amendments, operational guidelines and current application position determine the assessment.

Start with a unit-specific eligibility review

The first paid assignment produces a written decision note covering:

  1. 1.

The unit, project and investment period reviewed.

  2. 2.

Relevant policies and the basis for considering them.

  3. 3.

Eligibility findings, unresolved conditions and exclusions.

  4. 4.

A provisional benefit calculation where evidence permits, with assumptions identified.

  5. 5.

Relevant approvals, application dates and claim periods.

  6. 6.

Missing records, certificates and earlier claim details.

  7. 7.

The recommended next step and proposed execution scope.

The conclusion may be to proceed, seek clarification, complete a prerequisite or stop. The assessment remains useful even when a claim is not recommended. Its delivery date is agreed after the scope and available records are understood.

Application, claim and continuing support

An accepted execution assignment may include application preparation, document indexing, calculation schedules, management-approved submissions, responses to queries and a dated progress tracker.

For an existing approval, we review the sanctioned conditions and the claim requirements for the agreed period. Where the policy provides for repeated claims, subsequent periods can be covered by a separate work plan.

We keep four figures distinct: the amount initially estimated, the amount applied for, the amount approved and the amount actually received. Conditions attached to an approval and outstanding claim requirements remain visible in the tracker.

Client records must support the application. Audit opinions, statutory certificates, technical certifications, tax advice and legal opinions are assigned to appropriately qualified professionals where required. Those roles and costs are identified before commitment.

National coordination, unit-by-unit assessment

A group with facilities in several states needs a separate eligibility and deadline record for each unit. The applicable policy, investment period, approvals, expenses and earlier benefits may differ, even where the units manufacture similar products.

PvtFin can coordinate the agreed group assignment through one commercial contact while maintaining separate unit-level work plans. The required state and sector input is identified during scoping. National coverage does not imply that one application or policy applies to every facility.

How an engagement begins

  1. Initial discussion

Share a brief description of the industrial unit, investment and current issue. We identify the decision-maker, urgency and relevant review scope.

  2. Scope and records

Confidentiality, the document requirements, professional roles, deliverables and fees are agreed before substantive work begins.

  3. Assessment and decision

We present the eligibility findings, assumptions, document gaps and recommended action. Material uncertainty is explained before execution is proposed.

  4. Agreed execution

Application or claim work proceeds under an accepted mandate. Submissions, queries, responsibilities and next actions are recorded. Departmental decisions and processing remain with the competent authority.

Minimum information for the first discussion

  • Company name and authorised contact.
  • State and district of the industrial unit.
  • Products or activities and project type.
  • Approximate investment and important project dates.
  • Current production status.
  • Benefits previously applied for, approved or received.
  • Any pending query, rejection or nearest deadline.

Detailed financial records, invoices, payment evidence, asset schedules and certificates are requested progressively after scope confirmation.

Fees and responsibilities

The written quotation identifies the unit, policies or benefits covered, claim period, deliverables and payment stages. Assessment, application preparation and continuing claim support can be priced separately.

Any permitted completion-linked component is defined in the engagement, including the event that earns it. Government charges and specialist fees are identified separately where applicable. Professional fees pay for the accepted work; they do not purchase government approval or priority.

Questions companies ask

Is the service limited to one state?

No. Industrial units across India can be considered. The applicable policy and required execution support are established for each unit before acceptance.

Does a published policy mean applications are open?

No. A policy may require operational guidelines, a notified application window, a particular registration or another condition. The current application route must be checked separately.

Can expenditure already incurred qualify?

Sometimes, depending on the policy and dates. Prior registration, approval or timely filing may be required. A past investment cannot be assumed eligible merely because a similar incentive exists today.

Can expansion or modernisation qualify?

It may qualify under the relevant provisions. We examine how the policy defines the project, the eligible additional investment and any need to separate new activity from existing operations.

Is net SGST reimbursement the same as a GST refund?

No. An industrial policy reimbursement has its own eligibility, calculation and claim conditions. It is separate from an ordinary refund under GST law. The same receipt or expenditure also needs to be considered when checking restrictions on overlapping benefits.

Are loans or CGTMSE guarantees cash subsidies?

No. A loan is repayable finance. A credit guarantee supports qualifying lending under its scheme conditions. Neither should be described as a cash grant to the company.

Can more than one benefit be claimed?

Potentially. Eligibility for each benefit and any restriction on combining assistance must be examined. Separate programmes do not automatically permit reimbursement of the same cost more than once.

Does sanction mean the money has been received?

No. An approval may have further conditions, claim periods, verification or disbursement stages. Receipt is recorded only when the payment is evidenced.

Can you support an application already filed?

Yes, subject to review. We need the submitted application, attachments, acknowledgements, queries and responses. The remaining work, available evidence and deadlines determine the accepted scope.

Can we apply directly, and are you a government agency?

Companies can use the official application routes themselves. PvtFin is a private corporate advisory business. Our role is the agreed assessment, preparation and coordination; the competent government authority decides the application.
